Dubai has officially opened the new $1bn Concourse D at Dubai International Airport, lifting its capacity from 75 to 90 million passengers per year.
Sixty major international airlines will operate out of the new facility which first opened in late February to passengers of two airlines – Royal Jordanian and British Airways. At maximum capacity as many as 350 flights every day will depart for 90 destinations worldwide.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, officially inaugurated the concourse on April 28.
Dubai Duty Free will have 8,400m2 of floorspace at Concourse D which features a total of 21 food concessions.
It will also feature ‘SnoozeCubes’ to provide a convenient way to rest between flights and a total of nine lounges spread over 6,926m2.
