Nikken Sekkei will be showcasing the new design for FC Barcelonas iconic football stadium at this years Cityscape Global in Dubai.
Japanese architectural firm won the competition to design the revamp of the Camp Nou, which will be renovated at a cost of EUR 380mn ($424mn). Plans include a new roof installation and a capacity increase from 99,000 to 105,000 spectators.
Construction work is due to start in 2017 and will be complete by 2021, during which time the stadium will remain operational.

This is the first time that renderings and 500/1 physical model will be on show in the Middle East and visitors will have the chance to speak to members of Nikken Sekkeis Dubai-based design team, who played a supporting role in the bid, as well as members of the central bid team.
Nikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausió Arquitectes beat 25 other entries who entered the bidding process in June 2015. According to officials of the jury, the design stood out for being open, elegant, serene, timeless Mediterranean and democratic.
