The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will build a AED 54mn ($14.7mn) strategic road linking Dubai with Hatta via Lehbab as part of the AED 1.3bn Hatta Master Development Plan approved last week by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that over the next two years the RTA would also design & construct residential roads at Makan community and crushers area at Hatta costing about AED 15mn.
Gates featuring a design inspired by traditional architecture will be built at the entrances to Hatta with the first due for completion in the first half of 2017.
The Hatta Master Development Plan aims to boost the areas social and economic attractiveness as a tourist destination.
As part of the infrastructure development of the area Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said it would build the first hydroelectric power plant in the GCC.
