For the past few years, HAMM has been designing fuel-efficient machine technology to build not only an efficient, but also resource-conversing workflow on the construction site. One of the biggest achievements was the Power Hybrid roller from the HD+ series. Additionally, with eight electrified tandem rollers, HAMM will now be entering the segment for fully electrical construction machines.
Resource-conserving power train
In all current series, the power train has been continuously optimised and designed for operation at reduced speeds – helping the operating companies save fuel each day. The automatic engine stops and reduces consumptions – it will automatically switch off the engine after a few minutes of downtime, considering the requirements for the exhaust gas cleaning systems. Lastly, the ECO mode, which is incorporated into all the series, helps the driver to trim and easily save fuel.
Quiet Power Hybrid rollers save CO2
Back in 2016, HAMM was already the first manufacturer in the world to combine a diesel engine with a hydraulic accumulator for the development of alternative drives. With this Power Hybrid roller from the HD+ series, it was possible to reduce the fuel expenditure by approx. 15% – all without having to concede on compaction power, and reduction in noise emissions.
Emission-free compaction with electric tandem rollers
Most of the companies are demanding low-emission or completely emission-free construction machines. Soon, whenever compaction must be carried out free of emissions, the electrically powered tandem rollers in the HD CompactLine series will be able to take over the compaction. When operating the electric tandem rollers, there are no differences to the diesel-powered models, and the compaction power is identical.
Fully electrical solution
Conceptually, HAMM is depending on a totally electric solution: the compaction experts achieve an ideal energy yield thanks to a high percentage of electrified components. Through a 48 V on-board power source, a maintenance-free Li-ion battery with a capacity of around 23 kWh powers the components. In addition, recuperation is employed to utilise the energy released during braking from the drive engines and vibration motors. Bottom line, the battery has enough power to last a whole workday. There are on-board connections for 230 V and 400 V mains electricity to charge the permanently installed battery.
Electric combination roller with oscillation: Quiet, low-vibration and emission-free
The electric drive also significantly decreases the noise emissions as there is no longer any noise from the engine. This makes the electric tandem rollers ideal for all areas in which you want to compact with as little noise as possible.
The compaction specialist is introducing electric vibration and oscillation rollers as well as an electric combination roller with oscillation since low loads with vibrations are regularly needed. As a result, HAMM is the only producer in the world to provide a tandem roller that operates without noise, vibration, or emissions.
Operating with biodiesel and HVO
The majority of HAMM rollers available today can already be run by non-fossil fuels. This comprises HVO and biodiesel, which is diesel fuel made from plants (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil). These can either be used in place of or in combination with diesel fuel. For the basic product line, this also includes hydraulic oils that degrade naturally.
