Fire struck Kuwaits $775mn cultural centre on Monday just two months after the building opened its doors to the public.
Emergency services managed to douse the blaze at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center in Kuwait City without fatalities or injuries, according to Kuwaits official news agency, KUNA.
The blaze hit the roof of the complex building, away from the theatre and music buildings, the venue said in statement adding that events and activities would continue as planned.
The SSH-designed building actually consists of four separate structures – each containing a distinct performance space – designed to resemble jewels.
The Cultural Centre includes a performing arts centre, music centre, conference centre, historical documents centre as well as libraries, parks, and fountains.
It was officially launched in early December after being inaugurated on October 31.
