Wallace Weatherill, Managing Director of Keolis-MHI, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram, delivered a keynote speech at the UK Market Briefing held at the Middle East Rail 2023, which opened on Monday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The UK Market Briefing is a B2B event hosted by the UK’s Department for Business and Trade to network with UK companies and engage them with Keolis-MHI to learn more about its know-how in smart mobility and innovative rail solutions in the region that would enable it to deliver a state-of-the-art passenger experience.
In his speech, Weatherill highlighted Keolis-MHI’s vast expertise in smart rail transportation, its future ambitious goal of being an innovative and tech-savvy firm, and its eco-friendly initiatives that contribute to supporting environmental sustainability and reducing carbon footprint.
He emphasised the company’s dedication to transitioning from traditional to cutting-edge, smart technologies. “The future of rail is smart, and the key to unlocking its full potential lies in integrating smart technologies, AI and robotics. These applications will improve efficiency, safety, and passenger experience – automate processes, optimise resource allocation, and predict and prevent maintenance issues.”
The importance of sustainability in public transportation and its impact on the environment and society are at the core of the company’s operations. “Keolis-MHI is leading the way in sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions, and thus there is a need for collaboration and partnerships with like-minded organisations to achieve our vision,” Weatherill added.
Keolis-MHI’s executive teams also attended the event, where they connected with UK exhibitors and rail industry leaders participating in the event to showcase their products, cutting-edge rail solutions and innovations.
Middle East Rail 2023, the region’s leading event for rail innovation and technology, brought together 400 industry-leading leaders, forward-thinking senior executives, key decision-makers and government representatives to discuss the most pressing topics in the global railway and highlight the latest technology innovations in the rail industry.
