Under the initiative, Cundall’s team is visiting Dubai schools to captivate students with interactive presentations
Global multidisciplinary engineering consultancy Cundall, in a unique and privileged position, has launched a STEM initiative. This initiative is designed to inspire young people in Dubai to pursue careers in the construction industry, offering them a rare insight into the vast opportunities within engineering and the positive societal impact the profession can have.
As part of the initiative, Cundall’s team is visiting schools in Dubai to engage students with interactive presentations and hands-on workshops. The sessions are designed to spark interest in STEM subjects and encourage students to consider engineering as a viable and rewarding career path.
Commenting on the initiative, Scott McKeever, Country Director – UAE & MENA Head of Building Services, said, “The UAE’s talent shortage is real, and now more than ever, we are responsible for addressing this challenge. This is an opportunity for us to engage with talented young minds from across local schools and inspire them to consider the construction industry as a viable career choice.”
The first phase of the initiative will see Cundall visit schools, including The Arbor School and other local institutions. Through these visits, students will gain a practical understanding of what a career in engineering entails and have the opportunity to participate in engaging and educational activities.
In addition to school visits, Cundall is offering a number of placements for students. These placements are not just about gaining industry experience, but about personal growth and development. They provide a unique opportunity for students to delve into the life of an engineer, participate in in-house training, and receive invaluable mentorship, fostering a sense of hope and motivation for their future careers.
McKeever added, “Inspiring the next generation of engineers is something we are passionate about at Cundall. Providing opportunities to support young students is paramount to help make a difference. Given the current climate crisis our industry is grappling with, we need to empower young people to solve tomorrow’s problems and create a strong, positive impact.”
