The UAE President Initiatives Committee has announced the completion of a drainage station project in Umm Al Quwain.
The project was undertaken at a cost of AED22mn, a Wam news agency report said.
Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs and chairman of the committee, highlighted the importance of the committees projects, which aim to provide a clean and healthy environment free from pollution, as well as treated water for agricultural irrigation, green spaces and road development.
The station will receive wastewater and factory effluents that are harmful to the environment and public health. This will then be chemically and biologically treated to remove contaminants and usable water will be produced for irrigating green areas. The station will produce a maximum of 1.275 million gallons of treated water per day.
