Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, chair of the Al Habtoor Group has revealed details of an Egyptian based HAbtoor City, similar to the mega leisure development in Dubai, which will include three 5-star hotels, three luxury residential towers, 204 villas and a mall.
Speaking during a TV interview with Al Arabiya, Al Habtoor said he has submitted a proposal to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to build a multi-use development in Cairo – the largest city in the Middle East.
The large-scale development, on more than 800,000 square meters of land, is based on the Al Habtoor’s Group’s highly-anticipated Al Habtoor City project in Dubai, which incorporates three luxury hotels alongside three high-rise residential towers on the banks of the Dubai Water Canal.
The proposal for Al Habtoor City Cairo incorporates three luxury internationally-branded hotels, three high-rise residential towers as well as a cluster of mid-rise residential apartment blocks, 204 luxury villas set within picturesque landscaping and boasting state-of-the-art facilities, an international school, a shopping complex, two polo fields and a golf course.
Complementing the development would be numerous high-end retailers, and multiple food and beverage outlets within the hotels and shopping complex. The shopping centre covers 290,000sqm (3,055,000sqft) of rental retail space.
Al Habtoor said: “It would be a vibrant community in the heart of the city and new landmark in Cairo. It would provide much-needed jobs for the Egyptian people and would be a great boost to the city’s economy.”
The proposal details:
- Three Five-Star Hotels
- Three Luxury Residential Towers
- Six Mid-Rise Residential Blocks
- 204 Luxury Villas
- International School
- Shopping Mall
- Polo Club with two polo fields
- Picturesque golf course
He added: “There is nothing like this anywhere in the world. It is all encompassing. Residents and guests would have everything they need on their doorstep.”
Al Habtoor said Egypt offers huge potential. “We have been studying the idea for some time. Egypt is ready for an investment of this scale.”
