Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has signed a concessionary loan agreement to the tune of AED 147mn with Morocco’s national railway operator to finance a high-speed rail link between the cities of Tangier and Kenitra. Complementing ADFD’s first instalment of AED 368mn released in 2010 for the rehabilitation of the track’s infrastructure and foundation systems, this second instalment will be used to finance the launch of a 200-km long, 320-km/hr high-speed line that connects both hubs by 2018. Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East (HMEC) has appointed Middle East Crane Equipment Trading (MECET) as its new UAE dealer for Hitachi Construction Machinery as well as Hitachi Sumitomo Crawler cranes. The orbital highway is an essential corridor in the city of Doha, Qatar – and an Ammann plant is helping to make the project a success. The road will connect the main city of Doha with the ports of Qatar and the Saudi border. The highway project is about 40 km long with seven lanes. The Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) has launched the phase one of the Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Waterfront Project which is expected to be completed by 2020, and will transform the commercial Port Sultan Qaboos area into a major tourist hub.
