Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed construction of infrastructure related to the Dubai Parks and Resorts project, in co-operation with Meraas Holding, at a cost of AED 250mn ($68mn). The bridges will be opened at the end of October 2016 when the first phase of the giant theme park is due to open, news agency WAM reported. French utility Engie and Doosan Heavy Industries have won a contract from Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to build a 1,504 megawatt (MW) power plant at an estimated cost of $1.2bn. The deal for the Fadhili power plant was awarded by SEC in partnership with national oil giant Saudi Aramco. Scheduled to be operational by November 2019, the Fadhili power plant will be owned 30 percent by Saudi Electricity, 30 percent by Aramco and 40 percent by private sector partners, it stated. Dubai-based DC Aviation Al-Futtaim (DCAF) has broken ground on a major expansion of its facility at Dubai South. Scheduled for completion by Q3 of 2017, the new hangar will add 6,800 sqm of covered space to the existing DCAF business aviation terminal at Dubai South bringing its total land-side plot area to 24,000 sqm and the apron area to 13,000 sqm.
