UAE-based Gulf Cobla has started land reclamation work for the expansion of Ibrahim Nasir international Airport in the Maldives. Its unit Gulf Cobla Tennssor Maldives (GTCM) was appointed by main contractor Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) to reclaim over 4 million cubic metres of sand for construction of a new runway on Hulhule island. GTCM has already deployed its dredging vessel, Deira Bay to be followed by a second ship at a later date, it said in a statement.
