Cairo Angels, an angel investors network has announced its investment in Buseet, a transport-tech startup operating in Cairo and Dubai founded by Amr El Sawy, Khaled Mahmoud and Mohamed Emad in 2016. Buseet provides an easy to use, comfortable and cost-effective technology solution to the everyday commute of thousands of customers.
Buseet is the first bus fleet-based transport tech startup founded in Egypt and, after successfully joining Dubai’s prestigious Startup Bootcamp in 2017, they expanded their operations to Dubai in 2018. Buseet plans to use the investment to increase its product offering and to grow to other markets in the MENA region.
The Cairo Angels investment is part of a seed investment round that includes 500 startups and other international angel investors from Singapore and Gulf. The company is now well capitalised to grab a significant stake in this fast growing and exciting sector.
Aly El Shalakany, chairman of Cairo Angels, said, “We are very pleased to have closed the Buseet deal and to have co-invested in this opportunity with our partners 500 startups and other angels. We are very confident that Buseet can compete and continue to deliver a compelling solution to a very real problem that is clearly identifiable across emerging markets and beyond”.
Amr El Sawy, co-founder and CEO of Buseet, added, “We’re excited about this round that will help us expand our team and strengthen our tech to offer a high-quality service for everyday commuters. Moving forward our focus is to shift more car owners to save time and effort wasted in driving to ride Buseet, hence improve their daily commute experience while reducing number of cars and traffic.”
