US-based freight forwarder Flexport’s total job openings increased by 129%, from 262 in March 2021 to 336 in March 2022, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The leading data and analytics company notes that Flexport is opening new offices in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions to further expand its business and improve its network and supply chain optimization.
A recent listing for ‘Principal Recruiter’ for its Germany office shows that Flexport is expanding its talent acquisition team in the EMEA region. The company is looking to hire mid-to-senior-level roles across all non-tech business areas including operations, supply chain, sales, and general administration.
The company is scaling its European business to drive growth globally. Flexport has been hiring engineers and analysts for its Europe offices to build its logistics platform. Flexport’s ‘Trade Lane Manager, Air (Nordics)’ role highlights that the company is also working with major airlines that are operating on the trade lane to procure competitive rates to strengthen its capacity and support the growth of its business.
Sherla Sriprada, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, says: “Flexport is hiring and developing an organization team of four to five managers and 40 to 60 individual contributors to create an operational model for end-to-end movement of consolidated or ocean freight shipments within a gateway. The company is hiring for a ‘Director, Supply Chain Operations’ to assist in the development and scaling of its supply chain team.”
The company is also recruiting key staffing positions and retaining product engineering teams focused on the needs of shippers globally by expanding Flexport’s Asia operations. A March 2022 role for ‘Director of Engineering’, listed for its Shenzhen office, notes that Flexport manages three exporter domain engineering teams and five tech teams in China for handling shipments.
Flexport is optimizing opportunities for its Asia network by implementing new capabilities to lower costs, as well as setting up business operations to support commercial activities in Japan, South China, and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries.
Flexport is accelerating its tech advancement by implementing Flexport Kubernetes Engine (FKE). Since January 2021, the company supported the integration of multiple AWS managed services. Recently, in March 2022, the company started to deploy and test workflows.
Additionally, Flexport created a data authority to optimize and improve container fill rates and delivery schedules, while saving on late fees. Flexport created a role for ‘Engineering Manager, TGDA’ to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the state trade network.
Sriprada adds: “Flexport is gearing up to go public and is hiring for mid-level roles, holding initial public offering (IPO) readiness programs. The company raised USD935 million in February 2022 through series E funding so that it can expand into new markets. Recent listings suggest that Flexport is setting up new offices in China, the US, and Asian countries.”
