Gebrüder Weiss, an international transport and logistics firm, is putting additional experts and transportation links at their disposal in anticipation of Turkey’s expanding attraction to European importers and exporters. Transports between Turkey and its primary commercial partner, Germany, as well as the Benelux nations, are the main emphasis. Early in December, the logistics firm completely incorporated the newly acquired freight forwarding business 3S Transport & Logistics into the Gebrüder Weiss Türkiye country organization to extend its services.
“The demand for transport on the Middle Corridor route is steadily increasing. Due to the increased transit volume, Turkey is gaining further importance as a central logistics hub between Europe and Asia,” says Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager of Black Sea/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss.
The Middle Corridor runs from Europe through Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to China, offering an alternative route to the Northern Corridor, which runs through Russia.
“Thanks to the fully integrated additional capacities of 3S Transport & Logistics, we are well prepared for this development. We are pleased that, as the transition period ends, the rebranding process has reached a successful conclusion,” adds Mişel Yakop, Country Manager Gebrüder Weiss Türkiye.
In addition to the location in Istanbul, the 3S Transport & Logistics location near Düsseldorf was also integrated into the Gebrüder Weiss organization. It acts as a centre of competence for transport between Turkey and Germany, and the Benelux countries.
With sites in Istanbul, Izmir, and Mersin in the eastern Mediterranean since 2021, Gebrüder Weiss has been active in Turkey for ten years. Partial-load transports, air and sea freight services, pharmaceutical and multimodal transportation, warehouse logistics, and customs clearance are among the 70 workers’ primary duties. The logistics firm is present along the New Silk Road with branches in Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and China, and all three sites are vital components of an axis of GW branches that stretches from Central and South-Eastern Europe to the Caucasus and Central Asia.
