Global technology company, Honeywell, focussed on the impact of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and big data on the development of Egypts growing oil and gas sector at the ongoing Egypt Petroleum Show (Egyps).
This comes at a time when the advancement of the oil and gas industry is playing an essential role in Egypts plans for economic development, said a statement from the company.
The IIoT represents a digital transformation of manufacturing that shifts the source of competitive advantage away from physical machinery and towards information.
Khaled Hashem, president, Honeywell Egypt, said: Honeywell is proud to have worked on some of Egypts most significant energy and infrastructure projects since the 1960s.
Today, we can optimise existing automation investments by leveraging infrastructure thats already in place, through our ready-to-deploy technology. IIoT and big data will have a significant impact on creating improved efficiency and connectivity for Egypts oil and gas industry, and we are committed to helping our customers create value and minimise downtime through this digital transformation, he added.
Honeywells vast technology portfolio spans refining and petrochemical technologies, catalysts, process and control systems, renewable fuels and chemicals, specialty materials, industrial safety equipment, fire, gas and smoke detection products.
Evangelos Alepochoritis, sales director for Mena region at Honeywell Process Solutions, said: “IIoT technologies can help keep operations running smoothly and safely as they offer integrated end-to-end solutions across operations and processes.
“Data analytics are a key component of IIoT, and are viable solutions to a cycle of problems that often lead to downtime and lost revenue. If Egypts oil and gas industries adopt strategic approaches to utilising data related analytics, signifcant benefits such as improved connectivity can be achieved.”
