Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, and Transportation and Telecommunications Minister, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, today paid an inspection visit to the project site of the main building of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in Muharraq, and were informed about its progress which reached 58%, reported Bahrain News Agency.
The two ministers reviewed the progress of the construction and finishing works of the building, including civil works and electromechanical connections in the various floors of the building, the installation of the structure of its exterior glass façade and the building’s sub-power station which is about to be completed.
The construction works are expected to be completed soon and the building will be ready in the second half of this year.
The Transportation Minister stressed the importance of completing the project according to schedule, noting that the building will include all the Ministry’s directorates in order to enhance the level of productivity, ensure the smooth flow of work and deliver easy services for clients.
He added that the project will contribute to reduce the expenditures and operational costs of the facilities in order to achieve optimal use of government resources in a sustainable manner and to reflect the development and urban progress the Kingdom has reached.
Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf said that the project is within the Works Ministry’s constant interest in implementing service projects for various ministries and public entities, highlighting the importance of the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry’s new headquarters, located near the Bahrain International Airport, which makes it the first view for the visitors of the kingdom.
The state-of-the-art headquarters of the Transportation Ministry includes seven storeys, a basement, green areas and a 219-car parking facility.
The building will be provided with the latest environment-friendly systems and equipment. It will keep pace with the modern building requirements to provide a suitable work environment for its staff.
