Swisslog Warehouse & Distribution Solutions (WDS), the robot and data-driven intralogistics provider, made a successful showcase at the Materials Handling Middle East (MHME) 2017, held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Swisslog reported a very successful year to date, after expanding its presence in the Middle East region through significant industry exhibitions and a recruitment drive.
Swisslog has been participating at MHME for three consecutive years. This year, Swisslog welcomed visitors to their booth to explore a huge dynamic robot based demo system, one of the most exciting in 2017, worldwide. Additionally, the Swisslog booth featured a comprehensive 3D virtual reality experience, where visitors could experience for themselves how efficiently and advantageously different intralogistics technologies, including Industry 4.0, can work together. Swisslog opened its booth with the exhibition motto Grow Smart Robotic and Data-Driven Solutions for Smarter Growth.
Present on the booth was Jay Andres, CEO of Mai Dubai, the Dubai-based bottled drinking water company, who was on hand to present background information on the $21mn automated storage and distribution expansion project, commissioned to Swisslog.
Speaking on the success of the event, an elated Alain Kaddoum, general manager Swisslog Middle East, said: Our mission at the Materials Handling Middle East was to enlighten our visitors and potential clients about the concept of gradual growth. We believe in growth which is undertaken intelligently, flexibly, and if business so demands, rapidly. The Middle East region is known for its willingness to adapt new developments and solutions, and hence our aim every year would be to raise a level above and showcase our achievements.
The Swisslog Middle East team offered visitors an experience of the combination and simulation of innovative logistics systems, that makes the vision of a sophisticated high-tech warehouse a reality. They also shared new and effective insights into software and smart data. The companys new AutoPiQ solution proved to be a special highlight of the trade fair program, as well as part of the true-to-life exhibit. Designed to work hand-in-hand with individuals as well as independently, AutoPiQ is a robotics application for picking singular items. Developed from prototypes and initial applications, this innovative technology from Swisslog and KUKA makes it possible to pick both identical and different products from a bin. The new AutoPiQ uses a 2D-3D vision system, that detects the dimensions of the various objects and passes the data to the gripper technology.
This year at the exhibition, the Swisslog team was more ready than ever before to take on new intralogistics challenges. They also addressed the potential clients on how the companys services can benefit them to increase warehouse and distribution efficiency.
