Following the call of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the city’s landmarks were decorated with hoardings and digital signs to thank HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who completed 12 years of his accession as the leader of Dubai, called to the UAE people to say Thank You to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, for complementing the development drive of the UAE and setting an example to emulate in sound leadership and building the nation.
On Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, called for the public to thank the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince for his service to the nation. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid asked for the campaign in place of celebrations to mark the 12th anniversary of his accession as Ruler of Dubai, which took place place on 4th January.
Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) designed the state flags with the image of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan centered in the middle, displayed with the hashtag #ThankYouMohammedbinZayed. A giant hoarding has been set up on the Sheikh Zayed Road, there are digital signs on the bridges of the Sheikh Zayed Road, plus other roadside billboards on the Sheikh Zayed Road, Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Baniyas Street.
The RTA has also decorated the Dubai Water Canal Bridge on the Sheikh Zayed Road, all virtual messaging signs, three abras on the Water Canal and two ferries. Signs are also on display on all screens of the metro, tram, and buses. Decorations also included the digital screens inside RTA premises, attendance machines, and affiliated customer happiness centres.
The Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Police headquarters were also illuminated in honour of Sheikh Mohamed, while companies and organisations around the emirates launched posters thanking the Crown Prince.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid shared a photograph of the two leaders together, and soon after, the hashtag #ThankyouMohamedbinZayed began trending. Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, also posted an image of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. Thousands of posts went up on social media networks, including videos of Shaikh Mohamed Bin Zayed paying visits to families of martyrs, saluting the UAE Armed Forces and sharing light moments with leaders and people of the UAE young and old.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed responded to the initiative on Wednesday by praising Dubai’s Ruler as a leader to be proud of. He tweeted: “Mohammed bin Rashid is a brother, teacher, inspiring leader and partner in the development process. Our nation is proud of you. Your values and talent inspire all Emiratis. From your approach, we learn the values of giving and life wisdom.”
He further said: When we talk about ambition and optimism, we have to mention brother Mohammed bin Rashid. He is a practical thinker who devoted his time and effort to serve our nation and to support its vision with good planning and organisation.”
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also thanked the people of the UAE and everyone who had made the country their second home. He said: “On this occasion, I reaffirm my full confidence in the abilities of the UAE people. To all civil servants, workers, soldiers, teachers, students, fathers and mothers, I say thank you. Thanks to everyone who made the UAE their second home.”
