Abu Dhabi Airports announced last week that Al Bateen Executive Airport had gained General Civil Aviation Authority 4D Accreditation. Receiving 4D Accreditation, a rare and renowned aviation industry honour means Al Bateen can now accept wide-body aircraft without operational issues, constraints, or civil aviation pre-approval, boosting the airport’s profile, capacity, and future commercial potential.
H.E. Eng. Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, says, “Acquiring this certification from General Civil Aviation Authority was central to our long-term development and operational vision for the airport, which can now accommodate larger aircrafts from regional and international destinations. This announcement is the latest testament to our enduring commitment to drive advancement and deliver world-class services in line with aviation’s highest compliance and accreditation standards.”
One of Abu Dhabi Airports’ immediate successes has been ensuring Al Bateen was given 4D Accreditation. With the recent completion of significant renovation, the existing 3.2-kilometre runway was resurfaced and enlarged to handle dual aisle planes such as Boeing’s 767 model. Extensive General Civil Aviation Authority testing and upgrading work eventually created the groundwork for this new Accreditation.
