In January 2023, Pontus Fredriksson was named Group President of GAC, a global maritime, logistics, and shipping service provider. Even though he has only been on the job for less than a year, he has already implemented a new strategic plan, changed several organisational processes, and encouraged more ambition and an entrepreneurial spirit among GAC’s more than 100 companies worldwide.
After joining GAC in 2007, Pontus was seen rising quickly to top management positions in the Middle East. After that, he served as Group Vice President for the Americas region until he was appointed Group President in 2019.
Established in 1956 in the Middle East, GAC has been a prominent player in Middle Eastern supply chain logistics, offering a wide range of services in the shipping, marine, projects, and energy sectors. It opened its first distribution centre in Jebel Ali in 1993, and it currently operates significant distribution and storage facilities throughout the UAE, the larger Gulf area, and critical global locations.
Clear sustainability goals have been incorporated into the Group’s commercial practices. Based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, GAC’s 2021 ‘Roadmap to Sustainability’ includes a set of metrics to monitor the Group’s social, environmental, and economic effects on a local and global scale. All the while, they were maintaining a laser-like focus on the client’s needs.
The foundation of GAC’s activities is a set of fundamental beliefs. One of the Group’s founding objectives is to build and maintain long-term relationships. Talent development, moral behaviour, and a readiness to go above and beyond for clients are essential facets of GAC’s internal dialogue and external initiatives.
