ACES Dubai was recently awarded the geotechnical investigation Package 6 for Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai by consultant Dar Al Handasah.
Field works started in December 2016 using more than ten of ACES rotary drilling rigs and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017, ACES said in a statement.
Work includes drilling of 600 boreholes to depths ranging from 15 to 50 meters, with a total linear meter of more than 12,000.
In addition, the scope includes excavation of 28 trial pits, and performing field work such as falling head permeability, packer permeability tests and installation of piezometers.
The next phase of the Al Maktoum Airport expansion comprises construction of an additional terminal building, concourses and runways, and other ancillary structures.
