Aconex Limited announced that Atlantis The Palm 2 Development has seen substantial improvements in project and document management since implementing it just 10 months ago.
The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences project is the first prime development in Dubai and supports the UAEs Vision 2021 to elevate the country to rank as one of the worlds best to live and work.
The platform has been used by the Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences project team to automate document management and simplify workflow processes. In particular, Aconex Workflows has helped to reduce lag time and improve document control, driving efficiency and productivity which has ensured the project remains on track.
Erin OHerlihy, contract manager SsangYong BESIX Joint Venture, said: Since Aconex Workflows has been implemented, there has been a significant shift in how we manage information, with increased productivity and quicker turnover of information. With Aconex, we have processed approximately 32,650 documents through the automated workflow review process. Prior to Aconex, this was done using paper and simple single-use document sharing tools, such as CDs, USBs and email.
Prior to the adoption, the project team was reviewing and returning an average of 405 sub-contractor documents per week or 1,750 documents per month. Using the software, the project team reviews and returns around 1,190 sub-contractor documents per week, over 5,180 documents per month on average, an improvement of approximately 290%.
In addition to the core platform, the project team have also implemented Aconex Field and developed smart mail forms for mobile devices used by the Quality Assurance, Quality Control (QAQC) team on site.
Currently, the project has more than 630 users on the Aconex system working across 46 organisations. At peak, this is expected to ramp up and peak at around 1,200 users from 100 organisations.
When youre dealing with a complex project like The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences, implementing a new cloud-based project management solution needs to be carefully thought through particularly when there are multiple people and organisations involved, added OHerlihy. Implementation was staged and rolled out progressively to allow administrators time to catch up with the projects historic information, as well as enable the project team time to get used to the system. It also provided Aconex time to listen to the project teams needs as they used the system and adjust accordingly — showcasing how Aconex adapts to suit different client requirements.
