AECOM, the world’s premier infrastructure consulting firm, is promoting Amer Mneimneh to Vice President, Urbanism + Planning (U+P) for the Middle East & Africa.
Amer has over 20 years’ architecture, masterplanning and urban design experience gained in the Middle East, the last 14 of those with AECOM. Transformative projects on which he has worked include Dubai Expo 2020, Saadiyat Island Masterplan, Dubai Harbour, Jeddah Strategic plans and NEOM.
In his new role, Amer will lead the 93 staff within AECOM’s U+P practice and drive growth by ensuring clients receive the best of the firm’s technical practice, quality design and innovative thinking.
Amer is currently the Operations Director for the U+P practice and the Dubai Design Studio Lead. He is taking over from Janus Rostock who is leaving AECOM in mid-June to take up an opportunity in his home country of Denmark. The transition of responsibilities from Janus to Amer is underway.

Amer’s appointment comes shortly after AECOM launched its global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. He will join the global ESG steering committee to embed sustainable development and resilience across the company’s work, improve social outcomes for communities, achieve net-zero carbon emissions and enhance governance. Amer also represents the region on AECOM’s global Equity, Diversity & Inclusion steering committee. With more than 18 nationalities within the Middle East Urbanism + Planning team, Amer is committed to maintaining and growing a diverse and inclusive team to support AECOM’s vision — a world where infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone.
