Bahrain’s Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam Khalaf, has made a field tour to inspect the work flow at the road construction project leading to Al-Lawzi housing project located in Hamad town. Work at the project started in June 2020.
The Minister was accompanied by Undersecretary for Works Affairs Ahmed Al-Khayyat, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Huda Fakhro, Road Projects and Maintenance Director Sayyed Badr Alawi, and Roads Planning and Design Director, Eng. Maha Khalifa Hamada.
As reported on Bahrain News Agency, the minister announced that the road construction project leading to Al-Lawzi housing project is an important development project on the main road network, which aims to streamline traffic in the areas that are directly connected to this vital street, since the project is located in the southeast of Zaid Bin Omairah Highway, west of Lake Lawzi and extends south to Intersection Road 26.
Eng. Essam Khalaf added that the project includes the construction of a 4.8 km highway, with two lanes in each direction from Zaid bin Omaira Street to Street 3, and the construction of three lanes in each direction from Street 3 to Street 26, with the development of all intersections and the creation of 4 light signals to raise efficiency Intersections, regulation of traffic and realization of traffic safety.
The project will serve the people of Al-Lawzi, Damistan, Karzakan, Hamad Town and Al-Malikiyah areas.
The project was awarded to Amira Contracting Company and the Eastern Company by the Tender Board at a total cost of 5,196,582 BD, which is funded by the Saudi Development Fund.
