China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has won a pair of infrastructure contracts in Dubai weighing in at a combined value of close to $250mn.
The Middle East branch of the Chinese contractor will carry out a major road improvement project for the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) worth AED 800mn ($216mn).
The project in the south of the city involves the extension of Al Asayel Street and First Al Khail Street, as well as the improvement of Al Yalayis Street between Mohamed Bin Zayed Street and Sheikh Zayed Street.
CSCECs scope of work includes construction of 6.4 km of roadways as well as two intersections, the Chinese contractor said in a statement on its website.
The package is one of the highest value infrastructure contracts handed out by the RTA in recent years, CSCEC said. This is also the eighth time the RTA has contracted the Chinese company since 2006.
In addition, CSCEC Middle East was awarded a AED 117.5mn ($32mn) contract for the Akoya Oxygen residential development by Damac Properties.
The package is for infrastructure around the 547 villas at cluster Aster and Coursetia and 902 villas at cluster Odora, Zinnia & Sycamore, CSCEC said.
It includes approximately 10.9 km of tiled pavement and the associated utility network along the roads.
This is the second time since May 2016 that DAMAC has contracted CSCEC to undertake work in the Akoya development.
