Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA FZE (DCV MENA) is pleased to announce a long-term strategic relationship with global logistics provider DHL Global Forwarding for the operation and management of the soon-to-be-opened Daimler Truck Dubai Parts Centre. The cutting-edge building will function as a specialized truck parts warehouse. It will allow DCV MENA to better serve Daimler Truck AG clients in the Middle East by providing a wide range of reliable components and quick turnaround times.
Daimler Truck AG is one of the world’s major commercial vehicle manufacturers. Its flagship Mercedes-Benz trucks are intended to burn clean fuel, run efficiently, and include sophisticated safety systems to assist and protect drivers and other road users. These vehicles and goods from other Daimler Truck AG brands are frequently employed to earn money by a wide range of regional clients.
On the other hand, commercial vehicles can only earn money for their owners or operators while on the road. The opening of the Daimler Truck Dubai Components Centre means that clients can readily acquire a wide range of parts in the shortest amount of time, allowing them to keep their trucks on the road for longer.
The facility, set to open in December 2022, includes closed chambers and an operational area of 23,478 m² and 5,000 m² of interlocked open yard storage. Following the separation of Daimler AG into Mercedes-Benz AG and Daimler Truck AG in December 2021, it took shape inside Dubai World Central. Further, it created Daimler Truck AG as an independent organization.
The Mercedes-Benz AG Regional Logistics Centre in Dubai will be replaced by the Daimler Truck Dubai Parts Centre, which will be administered by DHL Global Forwarding and will have a specialized supply chain and logistics staff focused on client requirements across the Middle East. The new facility will include 24 loading doors for big and small vehicles, a 15-metre-high ceiling, and a maximum storage height of 13 metres. It is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified and has a plethora of safety measures, such as a sophisticated fire alarm system and sprinkler system.
“The dedicated Daimler Truck Dubai Parts Centre demonstrates Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA’s unwavering commitment to keeping the world moving by ensuring its customers’ vehicles are on the roads, with minimal downtime for service and maintenance, said Mr Alexander Schneider, General Manager Customer Services of Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA. “The centre’s planned opening also highlights that Daimler Truck AG is an independent enterprise fully supported in the Middle East by a dedicated parts facility, supply chain and logistics. Since DHL demonstrated its capabilities, professionalism and effectiveness through an existing facility during the procurement phase of this project and has proven expertise and experience in auto-mobility and EV logistics, it was the obvious choice for an operations partner for this important facility.”
The Daimler Truck Dubai Parts Centre is part of the region’s first-ever EV and battery logistics hub, built by DHL Global Forwarding and developed in close collaboration with the EV (electric vehicle) team of DHL Customer Solutions & Innovations – perfectly positioned for an increasingly reliant future on battery-powered electric cars. The facility is conveniently located near Dubai World Central Airport and Jebel Ali Port, ensuring that regional clients of Daimler Truck AG brand products, including Mercedes-Benz trucks, can service their vehicles as soon as feasible.
DHL was also chosen as a partner because of its ongoing push to develop technologies that better serve clients, which perfectly matches DCV MENA’s customer-centric aspirations. DHL has demonstrated its commitment to launching cutting-edge solutions by building a global network of Innovation Centers (Chicago, Troisdorf, Singapore, and Dubai) to drive customer-centric innovation and shape the future of logistics in collaboration with experts, partners, and customers.
The global logistics provider is also a great sustainability partner; it is a pioneer in green logistics and the world’s first logistics firm to commit to a net-zero emissions objective. These ideals, once again, significantly coincide with DCV MENA’s commitment to improving things for consumers and society.
“The partnership between DCV MENA and DHL is a natural fit as both companies align on many fronts from being customer-focused to having a commitment to sustainability,” says Fathi Tlatli, President Global Auto-Mobility Sector at DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation. “Our decades of experience and expertise in the auto-mobility sector, which includes EV logistics, enable us to serve our customers with operational excellence. Together with our partners, we also develop industry-tailored solutions to help keep our customers ahead of the curve and grow their business. DHL is perfectly placed here to help DCV MENA be closer to its customers.”
The facility is also one of the few in the region that is temperature controlled. In addition to providing a comfortable working environment for DCV MENA employees, the weather-sealed nature of the facility ensures excessive sand and dust does not enter, thus reducing the need to clean parts before they are dispatched to customers, which results in shorter turnaround times.
