Dubai Investments Park (DIP) has contracted MWH to design a new drainage network aimed at preventing flooding of low-lying areas within the development during heavy rainfall.
The project started in August and will be completed in four months and connected to the main Dubai Municipality drainage network for Dubai South and adjacent communities.
Approximately 147km of pipeline, 2,000 manholes, five ponds and five lift stations will be involved in the network.
MWH, part of Canada-based engineering consultancy Stantec, developed the first-ever sewerage, stormwater and groundwater drainage and irrigation master plan for Dubai.
The company has also been assigned by Dubai Municipality to undertake the engineering design for the drainage systems for the Dubai South area covering a total area of more than 420km2.
Over the years, DIP has spent over AED 4bn in enhancing and improving the infrastructure to international standards.
