Dubais new Etihad Museum will open its doors to the general public on 7th January 2017, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced.
It follows the inauguration of the building on the 2nd of December 2016 during the UAEs 45th National Day in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Members of the Federal Supreme Council.
Once open the museum will welcome visitors daily between 10am to 8pm and will present educational exhibits and programmes that show the chronological events of the agreement signing and Union declaration in 1971.
Dubais Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) commissioned Al Shafar General Contracting (ASGC) to construct the memorial project which consists of a large museum complex incorporating eight distinct sections each corresponding to a specific historical period or theme.
The Etihad Museums new permanent pavilion is inspired by the shape of a manuscript, with seven columns which emulate the pens used to sign the Union agreement, while the museums identity is inspired from the colours of the UAE flag, the Unions identity and the seven emirates.
