Dubai-based developer, Damac Properties, has confirmed the completion of the raft foundation work for tower B at Aykon City, its multi-tower master development.
The setting of the major foundation saw over 200,000 cubic feet of concrete poured within a 24-hour period, the same amount required to fill 75 swimming pools.
This foundation slab sets the stage for accelerating development at this iconic project, and we look forward to seeing the tower rise up to complement the existing skyline, said Niall Mc Loughlin, senior vice president of Corporate Communications and Marketing, Damac. Aykon City is one of Damacs flagship master developments in Dubai, and aims to offer residents and visitors quality experiences, with an abundance of services and amenities to suit all ages and lifestyles.
The foundation work presented a complex challenge to the project management team, who minimised traffic delays during the setting process by turning the task around within 24 hours. The slab also required concrete to be poured in a temperature controlled environment to ensure it was conducted to the correct standards. With the successful completion of the foundation, construction can now begin on the main columns ahead of the pouring for another slab which will make up the first basement level.
Aykon City is one of Damacs most ambitious UAE development projects and will offer residents the convenience of living in a multi-purpose neighborhood, located within the heart of Dubai. Offering views of the Dubai Canal, Aykon City will be home to Aykon Plaza, an entertainment and lifestyle hub for the community that includes swimming pools, spa, beach club, cafes, restaurants, yoga and tai-chi areas, as well as a residents-only private recreation space called The Club. The development plan is located on the eastern and western sides of Sheikh Zayed road at the Safa Park intersection, and consists of residences, serviced apartments, a hotel, and an office space.
