The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) announced today the completion of a project to enhance the internal road network in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), connecting it to the main roadways around the high-tech park. The AED 50 million extension is part of a series of ongoing development initiatives launched by DSO to satisfy the demands of its community and provide the finest supporting environment for all of its members.
In partnership with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the project connects DSO’s internal road network with the Dubai-Al Ain Road for roughly 2.4 kilometers. It also widens the road leading to the crossroads to five lanes and adds pedestrian corridors and service roads on both sides of the road to facilitate access to DSO and the surrounding residential and commercial districts.
Engineer Muammar Al Katheeri, Chief Officer Engineering and Smart City at DIEZ, says, “The completion of the project to expand and develop internal roads and link them to the main Dubai-Al Ain Road, which serves more than 1.5 million people, aligns with DIEZ’s efforts to upgrade DSO’s Road infrastructure to facilitate traffic and enable its community to move easily. Moreover, DIEZ is keen on collaborating and integrating efforts with various entities in Dubai, as we are with RTA, for Dubai’s infrastructure to be the best worldwide and to offer the best experience for DSO residents and visitors.”
DIEZ is also growing its infrastructure by boosting green spaces that are integrated with smart sustainable technology, upgrading and extending internal roadways, adding additional lanes, minimizing the distance between connected places, and lowering commute time. These initiatives are in line with Dubai’s aim of smart cities and innovation, as well as offering a seamless environment for people to live, work, and play.
Dubai Silicon Oasis, a member of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, functions as a technological center and free zone for major corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, and startups seeking to establish a presence in Dubai. Since its inception in 2005, the DSO community has expanded tremendously, with a population that now exceeds 90,000 members.
