The General Projects Department at Dubai Municipality has completed the construction of the new 26,756 Furniture Market in Nad Al Sheba-3 area at a cost of AED77mn.
The market, which will also accommodate household appliances and used electrical appliances, is considered one of the leading projects in Dubai that has applied 100% green building standards in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai to preserve the countrys resources, build a green economy and establish an environmentally sustainable city, and seek to implement the highest standards of quality and excellence.
Eng Marwan Abdullah Al Mohammed, Director of General Projects Department, said: “The market, spread on an area of about 17ha, is a comprehensive market for the sale of furniture and household appliances. The market will bring together all activities connected with furniture trade at one place, which will lead to an excellent competitive market compared to what exists locally, in the Gulf region and even globally through the comprehensiveness and diversity of existing services in the market.”
The project consists of 120 shops distributed in six blocks, each containing 20 shops in addition to the public services such as restaurants and toilets, 714 parking for visitors, and 114 parking for trucks.
He said that the project also includes other facilities such as roads and shaded areas for external display of furniture during local and international festivals with the presence of green spaces and public services.
The market aims to have the collection of furniture, used electrical appliances and household appliances in one location rather than being randomly spread and unorganized, making it difficult for the public and re-export companies to purchase and search for convenience and move between more than one areas.
He added that the project is being handed over to the beneficiary department in Dubai Municipality for the purpose of operation.
