Dubai-based developer, Nakheel, said it has received three contruction proposals for its new retail, dining, and entertainment hub to be built at Deira Islands.
These proposals were submitted ahead of the February 20 deadline, with lowest bid starting from AED4.2bn, said a statement from the company.
Deira Mall will be located at the heart of Deira Islands, Nakheels new, 15.3 sqkm waterfront master community that will contribute to Dubais 2021 vision by transforming the area, traditionally known as Old Dubai, into a hub for retail, tourism, living, and leisure.
With 37ha of leasable space, the upcoming retail destination will feature over 1,000 shops, cafes, restaurants, and entertainment outlets across three floors.
The atrium will have retractable roofs to bring natural light into the complex and allow open air shopping in cooler months. There will also be a multi-storey car park with nearly 8,400 spaces.
Deira Mall will be the centrepiece of Deira Boulevard, a new AED5bn Nakheel community with 16 residential towers, almost 2,900 apartments and extensive retail, restaurants, and recreation space.
Together, the Mall and Boulevard will have around 42ha of shop space. A construction tender for Deira Boulevard was released in January.
Deira Mall is one of two large-scale retail projects by Nakheel Malls at Deira Islands. The other, Deira Islands Night Souk, is set to become the worlds largest night market, with 5,300 shops and almost 100 quayside cafes and restaurants, said the Nakheel statement. Construction is in full swing, with the project due for completion in 2018. All units at the Night Souk have been fully leased, it stated.
