Real estate developer, RSG International, has successfully completed its reinforced concrete raft foundation in 24 hours for Burj Sabah.
It took place on the auspicious day of the Islamic New Year and had a team of about 140 on site crew members comprising of contractors workers and engineers, in addition to the consultant design and supervision team.
Being constructed at the Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Burj Sabah ensures to be the product of quality and design that will appeal to residents and visitors. The 19-storey building will house studio apartments as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments.
The completion of Burj Sabah is projected by February 2019 and this year initiates the beginning of the foundation work. Casting work of the concrete raft foundation for Burj Sabah was 100% completed in 24 hours. 15 engineers and administrators were present at the site overlooking the casting work. 125 concrete workers, masons, and helpers worked in two shifts so that the work gets completed on time.
The construction team, consisting of Al Asri Engineering Consultant and Team Engineering Enterprises, ensured all the logistics and resources were well planned to ensure the continuous supply of concrete. The raft foundation used 3,400cbm of concrete and 640 tonnes of steel. Due to the huge amount of concrete that had to be moved from the concrete plant to the site, it was decided that it will take place on a vacation day to avoid traffic hassles.
The extensive task took three concrete pumps in addition to a pump standby condition. A fleet of concrete mixers was involved, at certain times, there were 12 concrete mixers at the site on the same time. On-site laboratory tests were applied and only then was the concrete allowed to make its way to the pump and so on.
No expense was spared to ensure the best quality and resources were employed. Since the raft foundation is the source of support to a building, utmost care was undertaken to ensure that it was faultless. The team was very amiable and competent and worked in complete coordination. Efficient and effective, the entire operation was completed without a single instance of accident or formal complaints by the people living in the vicinity.
