Port Saeed Transport & Building Contracting Company has begun site excavation for future trading hub Dubai Wholesale City after being officially awarded the contract.
As well as levelling, grading and excavating the 135 million sq ft site in the south of Dubai, the contractor will build a 15 km dual carriageway to connect the major highways of Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
The new road will also link the main zones of Dubai Wholesale City that serve various sectors such as food, building materials, electronics, machinery, equipment and others.
Infrastructure work is set to be accelerated by executing the development operations alongside the grading, it was announced at a ground breaking ceremony attended by Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Wholesale City, as well as representatives of TECOM Group and the appointed contractor.
The move is a response to the strong demand from companies and traders interested in booking space. Infrastructure work is expected to be completed within the first year.

The city will offer companies and investors commercial and industrial land, markets, warehouses, showrooms and shops under one roof.
On site transport, storage services, shipping, insurance, customs and other services will ensure high ease of operational efficiency and speed in doing business.
