Dubai Municipality on Sunday signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of energy conservation with the two major real estate companies, Emaar and Dubai Properties Group (DPG).
The two property developers have agreed to install in all their projects Dubai Lamp, considered to be the most energy-efficient LED light bulb in the world.
Under the agreement, Dubai Municipality will coordinate with the other parties in installing Dubai Lamp in their buildings and facilities as well as in conducting studies to evaluate the savings achieved through the installation of Dubai lamps in their projects.
The agreement is signed for four years, which can be renewed before the end of the term on the basis of official communication between the parties.
Dubai Municipality will also coordinate with the other parties in conducting promotion and advertisement of Dubai Lamp through different media.
As per the MOUs the two companies will conduct feasibility studies to install Dubai Lamp in their existing and upcoming projects.
Dubai Lamp was developed in partnership between Dubai Municipality and Philips, which is the largest manufacturer of LED lamps.
The pair is readying the supply of two million Dubai Lamps for residential and professional use across the city in 2017, which is expected to be increased to 10 million lamps by 2021.
The lamp is available in four models both in cool daylight and warm white colours: 1W Candle Lamp to replace 25W incandescent lamp, 2W Bulb to replace 40W incandescent lamp, 3W Bulb to replace 60W incandescent lamp, 3W MR16 Spot to replace 50W halogen spots.
