Hassan Allam Holding subsidiary Hassan Allam Construction has been awarded the contract to design and build 40 buildings and structures within the nuclear power plant. for the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant Project.
About the Project
The project’s scope of work involves the construction of a nuclear power plant located in Dabaa, Matrouh Governorate, Egypt. The plant comprising four reactors, with the first expected to start producing power in 2024. The plant will contain the VVER-1200 reactor which will make Egypt the only country in the region to have a Generation III reactor.
The project also includes steam generators, reactor coolant pumps, high-pressure and low-pressure re-heaters, a steam generator blow-down tank, safety systems, and transmission lines. Post completion, El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will be able to provide up to 50% of Egypt’s electric energy capacity. The reactors will not emit any gas pollutants or cause any greenhouse effect thus being a clean source of energy. It will be able to withstand earthquakes up to 9 degrees on a Richter scale, and the crash of a 400-tonne airplane.
