TOPHOTELPROJECTS reports that 34,076 hotel rooms are under construction in India with 190 hotels under construction as of October 2015. On the other hand, the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) quoted that an additional 100,000 hotel rooms are required to meet demand.
The government of India has been increasingly investing in attractions and infrastructure to boost the number of tourists visiting every year. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India has the potential to become the world’s number one tourist destination, and forecasts that the sector will generate $42.8bn by 2017. International Monetary Fund further adds that India will also keep its new status as the world’s fastest economy this year.
