Saudi Arabia’s high speed Haramain Express Train, which will connect the Saudi cities of Makkah and Madinah, has been tested successfully and is on track for completion by the end of the year.
The train was tested on a run between King Abdullah City and Madinah at speeds of up to 300 km per hour, reported Arab News.
The report quoted Rumaih bin Mohammed Al Rumaih, chairman of the Public Transport Authority and acting head of the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO).
Trains will carry up to 60 million passengers per year over the 450km between Makkah and Madinah in around two hours, stopping at Jeddah airport and King Abdullah Economic City.
