Laing O’Rourke Middle East has been appointed by Khazna Data Centers (Khazna) to design and build a 21.45MW Data Center facility and office space at Dubai Design District (D3).
The Data Center Building, to be constructed within the 26,000 m2 plot, contains four separate pods each with two data halls totalling 5MW per pod, plus seven auxiliary data halls totalling 1.45MW. Laing O’Rourke’s scope includes the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the data center building plus the technical fit out for each of the four pods and auxiliary data halls.
In addition, the scope of works includes a three-storey office building (G+2+RF), with an enhanced façade. The project will be constructed and certified in accordance with Uptime Tier III Design in respect of concurrent maintainability in addition to meeting the sustainability criteria of LEED Gold and targeting a PUE of < 1.5.
The project lead from Laing O’Rourke will be Vijay Gangakhedkar, transitioning from the bid to the delivery leader for the scheme with an intended completion date of Q1 2024 with the first phase handed over in September 2023 for tenant deployment.
