Larsen & Toubros power transmission and distribution business has won its largest single order in the Middle East.
The $817m contract for Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) is the latest phase in the ongoing expansion of the countrys transmission network.
The India headquartered firm will carry out engineering, procurement and construction of 30 new substations of varying voltage levels and approximately 560km underground cables.
The project will be completed in phases over a period of 15 to 32 months.

Kahramma has previously awarded L&T more than 40 substations and approximately 100km of high-voltage cabling projects worth nearly $1.1bn.
