Leighton Contracting (Qatar) has laid the foundation stone for a major residential tower project on The Pearl-Qatar.
The groundbreaking ceremony for Al Mutahidah Towers was overseen by senior officials of United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of the man-made island.
HLG Contracting, parent company of Leighton Contracting, revealed in November that it had won the QAR 580mn ($160mn) contract for the construction of the project, which is located on the beach front precinct of Viva Bahriya.
Navayuga Engineering Company completed piling works involving 917 piles as well as the excavation and backfilling works.
Al Mutahidah Towers consists of twin 25 storey residential towers containing a total of 480 apartments, two parking levels, ground floor entrance lobby and amenities/entertainment areas with a gross floor area of 160,500 square meters.
The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019.
