Majid Al Futtaim has unveiled plans to expand the City Centre Qurum project in Oman at a cost of OMR 5mn ($13mn) by the end of 2016.
The project in a suburb of capital city Muscat will add 3,150 m2 of leasable floorspace to host Centrepoint, the multi-brand retail concept of Landmark Group as an anchor tenant.
The expansion will be at the ground level of the mall in the existing parking space and a new car park is being built to accommodate 160 additional vehicles, MAF announced in a statement today.
“We are excited to welcome Centrepoint to City Centre Qurum – a fantastic opportunity for us to better serve our loyal shoppers, and to entice more customers to the mall,” said Watfa Humaid Al Harthy, Senior Mall Manager at City Centre Qurum.
“Expanding the mall underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s industry leadership and commitment as a positive contributor to the local economy and underlines our company’s vision to creating great moments by providing customers with a truly convenient and enjoyable shopping experience.”
In 2014, City Centre Qurum expanded by introducing a family leisure precinct featuring a 7-screen VOX Cinema complex (2,140 m2) and a new Magic Planet family entertainment (490 m2).
The latest expansion will take the development’s total area to 26,500 m2 offering more than 14 diverse dining options, 83 retail destinations and distinct entertainment options.
