AR Suresh Kumar joined Voltas as a management trainee over three decades ago (1988). For the most part of the 1990s, as the operations head, he was involved in the design, planning and project execution of air-conditioning systems and building management for wide range of projects in India.
He moved to the GCC (KSA) in the year 1998 and worked on MEP projects, air-conditioning projects and maintenance services. Had also set up elevator division and made a breakthrough in this business. In the year 2018, AR Suresh Kumar took over the responsibility of Corporate Business Development for the Organization and became Head of International Operations handling the Electromechanical Business, headquartered in Dubai, along with Voltas entities outside India.
During his tenure, AR Suresh Kumar is a firm believer of the use of digital tools which resulted in the formation of the Centre of Excellence.
“Today, we are using technology as an enabler to drive productivity at site and ensure safety of our employees. The supervisory staff at our sites are using a tablet-based application to plan and monitor their site activities. Our Managerial staff is monitoring the project progress across Engineering, Procurement and Construction using real time data on data visualization tools.
“All Senior Management members can access any project report or project data on their phones to monitor the projects. This helps in improving the visibility, faster decision making and reducing project delays. These tools have also significantly reduced the paper at site, thus reducing the risk of spread of pandemic.
“We have reached a stage wherein these digital interventions are not mere tools but part of our project delivery model.”
