Expo City supports the growth of Al Maktoum Airport, Jebel Ali Port and DEC
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, approved a new master plan for Expo City Dubai, placing it at the heart of the emirate’s future growth. Attended by senior officials, including His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, the plan positions Expo City Dubai as a vital driver of the emirate’s development across trade, technology, tourism, and innovation sectors.
Expo City Dubai, the site of Expo 2020 and COP28, will feature over 35,000 residents and 40,000 professionals, creating a global hub for businesses, investors, and visitors. Its strategic location near Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) makes it a key enabler of Dubai’s ambitions in critical sectors like logistics, technology, and business.
The plan aligns with the 2040 Dubai Urban Master Plan, naming Expo City as one of five key urban centers. It also supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the emirate’s economy by 2033. The continued expansion of the Dubai South area, bolstered by Expo City, further cements Dubai’s status as a leading hub for global trade and tourism.
Expo City Dubai will be home to the new global headquarters of DP World and DEC, enhancing the city’s economic growth. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that Expo City will serve as a center for innovation and sustainability, blending heritage with future opportunities. The development features a mix of residential, business, and recreational districts designed with sustainability and resilience in mind.
The phased development will track key performance indicators such as biodiversity, economic growth, and wellness, ensuring Expo City Dubai meets its goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050 while setting new benchmarks in sustainable urban development.
