Oman-based architectural and engineering consultancy, Hoehler+alSalmy, has been appointed as the lead consultant for the Al Bashayer Meat factory.
The signing ceremony was attended by HE Dr Rashid Al-Masrouri, chairman of the board of directors of Oman Food Investment Holding Company, numerous Al Bashayer Co. board members, as well as Hoehler+alSalmys representatives, and other relevant project related parties.
The Al Bashayer meat company is the first corporation for animal sale and breeding in Oman to use the latest meat processing technologies when producing fresh slaughtered meat in accordance with the Islamic law. The first of its kind factory in Oman is to be located in Thumraid, Dhofar, where the project is planned to consider and integrate all elements of the meat process-from getting the animals, to the end products, in addition to any waste management such as the use of treating wastewater as fertilisers, and process leather and other by-products from the slaughtering waste.
All social, economic, and environmental impacts have been thoroughly studied for optimum results. This project
will not only add quality to the region but also contribute to the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the area. The consultancy will be collaborating with STI Engineering as the chosen sub-consultant for the project.
The OMR37mn investment project is set to contribute to raising the quality and safety of food in the country, in addition to the general development of the community as a whole.
