Dubais Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed construction of infrastructure related to the Dubai Parks and Resorts project, in co-operation with Meraas Holding, at a cost of AED 250mn ($68mn).
The bridges will be opened at the end of October 2016 when the first phase of the giant theme park is due to open, news agency WAM reported.
Works included constructing entry and exit points linking the project with Sheikh Zayed Road, in the direction from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, in the vicinity of Seih Shoaib, said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
A three-lane bridge, stretching 1.5km, was built as a main entry on Sheikh Zayed Road for vehicles coming from Dubai while a 1km two-lane bridge was built as a main exit on Sheikh Zayed Road from Dubai Parks in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
The project also included 16km of road linking Dubai Parks with Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
Other infrastructure and related work included lighting, traffic signs, rainwater drainage, electricity, water and communication.
Dubai Parks and Resorts comprises three theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and LEGOLAND Dubai, in addition to one water park, LEGOLAND Water Park.
