Italian contractor Salini Impregilo has won a $300mn contract with Saudi developer Al Khozama Management Company.
Known as the Al Faisaliah District Redevelopment Project work will begin with a $53mn refurbishment of the Al Faisaliah Mall in Riyadh as well as demolishing the adjacent Seyahiah buildings to make way for the construction of a Mall extension.
The mall will be remodeled and upgraded section by section, ensuring that it remains open throughout the period of the work, which is expected to be completed in 16 months. The entire project is to be finished in three years.
The contract is part of EUR 1.7bn ($1.8bn) worth of projects already awarded to Salini Impregilo this year, which includes the deal to build the Meydan One mall in Dubai.
Salini Impregilo has had a number of projects in Saudi Arabia, including the longest (42 km) line of the Riyadh Metro Project.
