Workers of Saudi Oger set fire to a number of company vehicles outside their office in Jeddah in protest at delayed wages.
A number of buses and heavy vehicles were set alight on Monday before the police intervened to disburse the crowd, according to a report in Arab News. Civil Defense teams extinguished the fires.
“Some 150 expatriate workers gathered in front of Saudi Oger’s branch office in Jeddah at 9 p.m. on Monday,” said Jeddah police spokesman Atti Al-Qurashi said.
“The workers set fire to the company’s vehicles. They were protesting against nonpayment of salaries for six months.”
It follows a similar incident last month in Makkah involving employees of Saudi Binladin Group.
