Siemens has appointed Jean-Claude Nasr as Senior Executive Vice President of the companys Power Generation division in the Middle East, effective June 1.
Based in Dubai, the 52-year-old will take over from Jeff Dunlap, who will move to the U.S. to undertake new responsibilities at Siemens.
Nasr has a wealth of experience spanning more than 20 years in power generation, oil and gas, and energy management.
Jean-Claude Nasr brings a diverse regional experience to our Middle East management team. We expect the region to require additional power generation capacity of 267 gigawatts by 2030, representing a 66 percent increase from 2015.
Nasrs sector and leadership experience will be invaluable in building more affordable, reliable and highly-efficient power plants in the region, said Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE.
Nasr began his career in sales with the industry in 1990 and subsequently took on a number of managerial positions, working across the Middle East, Africa, India, Pakistan and Turkey.
Commenting on his appointment, Nasr said: The Middle Easts growing population increasingly requires reliable and efficient power supply. As the share of renewables in the regions energy mix is increasing, we expect natural gas to become the No. 1 source for power generation.
We are in a strong position to address and support this growth. Im excited to oversee an excellent team striving to bring greater benefits to our customers in the region through an unmatched portfolio of technologies, supported by digitalization.
